Qualifying for JRF after coming close multiple times takes more than hard work. It takes the ability to identify gaps, trust the process, revise repeatedly, and keep going even when success seems just one question away.

Saran Singh’s UGC NET 2026 success story is a powerful example of this journey.

A JRF Adda paid learner and a dedicated Public Administration aspirant, Saran had come extremely close to JRF in his previous attempts. In the last two attempts, he missed JRF by just one question each time.

This time, however, he did not just cross the JRF line—he crossed it by a huge margin, scoring 260 marks and securing AIR 1 in Public Administration.

For Saran, the result was almost unbelievable.

“Mujhe bhi ye bharosa nahi ho pa raha hai ki pata nahi kaise ye 260 score… unbelievable hai.”

His journey is a story of persistence, disciplined revision, mock-test practice, self-analysis, and consistent guidance.

From Missing JRF by One Question to AIR 1

Saran’s journey to JRF was not an overnight success.

He had already attempted the examination several times and repeatedly found himself just short of the JRF cutoff.

“Last two attempts mein mera ek-ek question se hi JRF chhoot raha tha.”

In another previous attempt, he had also missed JRF by one question.

These near-misses could easily have become a reason to give up. Instead, Saran continued.

The biggest lesson from his journey is that being close to success does not mean the preparation is complete. Sometimes, one or two specific gaps can make the difference.

Saran identified those gaps and worked on them in his next attempt.

The Turning Point: Revision and Mock Tests

When Saran analysed his previous attempts, he identified two major shortcomings:

Not revising multiple times and not taking enough tests.

This time, he made both a priority.

During his preparation, he reached out to Varsha Ma’am when he felt his mock-test scores were not improving as expected.

Her advice was simple:

“Sirf revision karo. Revision, only revision.”

Saran followed that advice completely.

“I only stuck to your advice. Aap jo advice humko diye, hum usi pe completely stick to it.”

Instead of constantly changing resources or adding more material, he focused on revising what he had already studied and repeatedly testing himself.

“Multiple Revisions and Tests” Became His Formula

Saran believes his high score came from repeatedly revising the syllabus and taking tests.

“Itna zyada score laane ke peeche ka bhi reason… multiple revisions and test.”

His preparation was not limited to reading the syllabus once.

He focused on:

  • Completing and covering the syllabus properly
  • Making self-notes
  • Revising multiple times
  • Taking regular tests
  • Analysing mistakes
  • Identifying gaps
  • Working on those gaps before the next test

This systematic approach helped him transform previous near-misses into a major success.

Why Self-Notes Were Important for Saran

Saran also highlighted the importance of creating self-notes.

Instead of depending entirely on external material, he converted his learning into notes that he could revise repeatedly.

His preparation philosophy was:

“Poore syllabus ko achhe se padha jaaye, achhe se cover kiya jaaye, khud ka self notes banaya jaaye aur baar-baar revise kiya jaaye.”

Self-notes made repeated revision easier and helped him consolidate a large amount of Public Administration content.

His Biggest Lesson From Previous Attempts

Saran clearly understood what had gone wrong previously.

He had not given enough importance to repeated revision and tests.

“Pichhle attempt mein jo mera mistake raha hai, wo tha ki multiple times revision na karna, test na dena.”

Instead of repeating those mistakes, he deliberately filled those gaps in the June 2026 attempt.

“I fulfilled all those gaps in this attempt.”

This ability to learn from previous attempts became one of the strongest aspects of his preparation.

JRF Adda’s Role in Saran’s JRF Success

Saran had been a JRF Adda paid learner and remained connected with the platform for a significant part of his preparation.

He specifically credited JRF Adda and Varsha Ma’am’s guidance for helping him achieve his result.

“Aapke guidance ke wajah se aur JRF ke support ki wajah se aaj ye possible… ho paya.”

For Saran, JRF Adda was not simply a source of study material. It became a structured preparation ecosystem involving:

  • Public Administration classes
  • Notes and PDFs
  • Videos
  • Test practice
  • Revision guidance
  • Doubt support
  • Personal guidance
  • Paper 1 preparation

He believes these resources were aligned with the actual requirements of the examination.

“JRF Adda Ke Notes, PDFs Aur Videos Pe Rely Kar Sakte Ho”

When asked whether online preparation through JRF Adda could genuinely help students, Saran gave a very strong response.

“Aap poori tarah se JRF Adda ke notes, PDF aur videos pe rely kar sakte hain.”

He further described the resources as:

“100% fruitful hai aur 100% aapko feedback bhi karega.”

According to Saran, students need to use the resources properly, revise them thoroughly, and clear their doubts through guidance.

His recommendation comes from his own experience of preparing through the platform.

Varsha Ma’am’s Guidance Made a Difference

Saran repeatedly acknowledged Varsha Ma’am’s guidance during the interview.

Whenever he faced uncertainty about his preparation or mock performance, he reached out for guidance.

One of the most important pieces of advice he received was to focus on revision.

He did not overcomplicate the process.

He simply followed the advice consistently.

“Main usi pe completely stick to it.”

That consistency eventually became one of the defining factors of his preparation.

Aditi Ma’am’s “Zero to JRF” Series Helped With Paper 1

Saran also credited Aditi Ma’am’s Zero to JRF series on YouTube.

“Aditi Ma’am jinka Zero to JRF series jo YouTube pe aata tha, usko bhi hum religiously follow kiye.”

Following the series consistently helped him strengthen Paper 1.

“Because of that Paper One mein bhi kaafi achha score kar paaye.”

This was important because Saran believes that a strong Paper 1 score is essential for candidates targeting JRF.

43 Questions Correct in Paper 1

Saran’s Paper 1 performance was particularly strong.

He got 43 questions correct in Paper 1.

According to him, crossing the 40-question mark is extremely important for securing JRF.

“Paper One ke liye 40 plus questions sahi karna bahut important hai JRF secure karne ke liye.”

His own performance proved the effectiveness of this approach.

“Is attempt mein mera 43 question sahi hua hai… Paper One mein.”

He also emphasized that Mathematics and Data Interpretation cannot simply be ignored if an aspirant wants to consistently score above 40 correct answers.

Mathematics and DI Should Not Be Ignored

For many UGC NET aspirants, Mathematics and DI can be intimidating.

Saran, however, believes they are essential for building a strong Paper 1 score.

“Without Maths and DI ye possible hi nahi hai ki 40 plus sahi kiye ya ja sake.”

This is especially relevant for Public Administration aspirants targeting JRF because the competition can be tight.

A difference of even one question can change the result.

Saran himself experienced this repeatedly before finally securing JRF.

Public Administration: Build a Strong Base

Saran had studied Public Administration during his Master’s.

His subject foundation also developed during his preparation for Civil Services, where he chose Public Administration as an optional subject.

“Public Administration to Masters mein hi padhe the during my Masters.”

This gave him an existing foundation in the subject.

However, his advice for beginners is not to worry if they do not have the same background.

Instead, he recommends finding a genuine and reliable source and following it consistently.

His Advice to Public Administration Beginners

Saran’s message to beginners is straightforward:

“Aap ek genuine source ke saath jud jaaye.”

He specifically recommends JRF Adda as a preparation source.

“JRF Adda is really a genuine source for preparation of JRF.”

He believes beginners can use the platform’s guidance, notes, concepts, and structured preparation to build their foundation.

His advice is to:

  • Follow one reliable source
  • Make proper notes
  • Clear concepts
  • Revise repeatedly
  • Solve questions and tests
  • Ask doubts when needed
  • Avoid leaving gaps in preparation

“Top 10 Mein Aana Hai”

Saran has a very clear mindset about JRF, particularly for General Category Public Administration aspirants.

He believes students need to think beyond simply qualifying NET.

“Usko pehle apne mind mein ye clear karna padega ki usko top 10 mein aana hai.”

For him, the goal has to be clear from the beginning.

“Mere dimaag mein bhi ye pehle se clear tha ki humko to top 10 mein aana hai. Tabhi mera JRF hoga.”

This mindset pushed him to prepare at a higher level rather than stopping once he felt his preparation was sufficient.

Do Not Leave Any Gaps

One of Saran’s strongest messages is that aspirants should not leave obvious gaps in their preparation.

His repeated near-misses taught him how costly one question can be.

“Hamesha ek question se chhootne ka matlab hai ki aap kahin na kahin baaki competition se peeche reh ja rahe hain.”

Therefore, he recommends covering the syllabus thoroughly and ensuring that weak areas are not simply ignored.

“Aapko kahin bhi apni preparation mein gap nahi chhodna.”

This does not necessarily mean blindly studying everything without a plan. It means identifying the important areas and making sure your preparation is complete enough to compete at the required level.

The Final Month Is Crucial

Saran believes the last month before the examination is particularly important.

During this period, revision becomes even more important because whatever you revise repeatedly can directly reflect in your performance.

“Exam se ek mahina pehle ka time bahut hi crucial period ho jaata hai.”

He recommends using this time for multiple revisions rather than constantly trying to learn new material.

“Jab tak exam na aa jaaye aapko revise karte rehna hai.”

For Saran, the final month was not a time to stop revising.

It was the time to intensify it.

His Routine: Discipline Over Long Study Hours

Saran also offered a practical message to aspirants who cannot study for extremely long hours.

He recommends maintaining a disciplined routine and studying every day.

“Agar zyada time nahi bhi nikaal paate hain to bhi kam se kam do-chaar ghante din mein nikaal ke zaroor padhein.”

The objective is to maintain momentum.

Consistency, according to Saran, is more important than occasionally studying for very long hours and then taking long breaks.

Mock Tests: Attempt, Analyse, Improve

Saran does not consider taking a test the end of the preparation process.

For him, the real work begins after the test.

He recommends identifying:

  • Which questions were wrong
  • Why they were wrong
  • Whether the mistake came from lack of revision
  • Whether it came from a conceptual gap
  • Whether the same mistake is likely to happen again

“Jo bhi mistakes ho rahe hain usko note down karke phir dekhna hai ki wo mistake kahan hua.”

The goal is to fix the problem before the next test.

“Next test mein aap wo dobara mistake repeat na karein.”

This creates a cycle of continuous improvement.

His Strategy in One Formula

Saran’s entire preparation strategy can be simplified into one cycle:

Study the Syllabus → Make Notes → Revise → Take a Test → Analyse Mistakes → Fix Gaps → Revise Again → Take Another Test

This process helped him transform repeated one-question misses into an exceptional AIR 1 performance.

Saran’s Message to Future JRF Aspirants

Saran’s advice to the next generation of aspirants is based on discipline.

“Aap religiously follow karein apne routine ko, discipline follow karein.”

He encourages students to maintain daily momentum even if they cannot devote an entire day to preparation.

His core recommendations are:

Be disciplined.
Revise repeatedly.
Take tests.
Analyse your mistakes.
Do not repeat the same mistake.
Do not leave gaps.

From Borderline JRF Attempts to AIR 1

Saran Singh’s story is ultimately a story of persistence.

He had come close multiple times.

One question separated him from JRF in his previous attempts.

But instead of allowing those results to demotivate him, he used them to identify what was missing.

He increased his revisions.

He started taking tests seriously.

He analysed his performance.

He made self-notes.

He followed JRF Adda’s guidance.

He strengthened Paper 1.

He followed Aditi Ma’am’s Zero to JRF series.

He continued preparing Public Administration comprehensively.

And this time, the result was extraordinary:

260 marks and AIR 1 in Public Administration.

Saran’s own words capture the transformation:

“Finally is time is attempt mein JRF secure kar paana… really unbelievable hai mere liye.”

JRF Adda and Saran’s Success: A Partnership of Guidance and Consistency

Saran’s testimonial highlights an important point: preparation resources become most effective when an aspirant follows them consistently.

JRF Adda supported his preparation through Public Administration notes, PDFs, videos, classes, test practice, Paper 1 resources, Zero to JRF content, and personal guidance.

But Saran also did the most important part himself—he followed the advice consistently.

He revised.

He tested himself.

He analysed mistakes.

He corrected gaps.

And he repeated the process.

His strong endorsement of JRF Adda reflects his own experience:

“Hum poori tarah se JRF Adda ke through hi is exam ko clear kar paaye hain.”

And after repeatedly missing JRF by one question, he finally achieved the result he had been working toward:

JRF + AIR 1 in Public Administration.

For aspirants preparing for the next UGC NET attempt, Saran’s journey offers one clear lesson:

Do not stop at studying. Revise what you study, test what you know, analyse what you get wrong, and keep improving until there are no gaps left.
