NET Result vs PhD Cut-off

The NET cut-off is decided at the national level by the National Testing Agency for the University Grants Commission and, from the 2025–26 cycle onward, includes three separate cut-offs: JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD-only. The JRF cut-off is the highest and offers fellowship, PhD admission, and teaching eligibility; the Assistant Professor cut-off allows teaching and PhD admission without fellowship; while the PhD-only cut-off is the lowest and is meant for PhD admission.

NET Cut-off

From the 2025–26 cycle onward, three distinct NET cut-offs have been introduced: the JRF cut-off, which is the highest and provides fellowship, PhD admission, and teaching eligibility; the Assistant Professor cut-off, which allows teaching and PhD admission without fellowship; and the PhD-only cut-off, which is the lowest and meant solely for PhD admission.
