To appear in the UGC NET Punjabi 2026, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    Master’s Degree in Punjabi or related field from a UGC-recognized university.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • General/EWS: 55% marks
    • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Transgender: 50% marks
  • Age Limit:
    • JRF: Maximum 30 years (as of exam month), with age relaxation for OBC, SC, ST, PwD, Women, etc.
    • Assistant Professor: No upper age limit
  • Exemptions:
    Candidates who cleared SET before 1st December 2002 are exempt from UGC NET for Assistant Professor posts in their respective states.

Candidates with a Master’s degree in Punjabi or a related field and at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) are eligible.

It has two papers: Paper I (General Aptitude) with 50 questions (100 marks) and Paper II (Punjabi) with 100 questions (200 marks), all in MCQ format.

For JRF, the age limit is 30 years (with relaxations). There’s no age limit for Assistant Professor roles.
