Educational Qualification

General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates must have at least 55% marks in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university or institution.

Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and Third Gender categories require at least 50% marks in their Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.

Candidates who are currently pursuing their Master’s degree or have appeared in the final-year examination and are waiting for their results may also apply, subject to fulfilling the prescribed conditions.

Candidates with a four-year/eight-semester Bachelor’s degree can also apply under the conditions mentioned in the official notification. Such candidates can be eligible for JRF and PhD admission but are not eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor on the basis of a four-year Bachelor’s degree.

UGC NET Age Limit

For JRF, candidates should not be more than 30 years of age as on December 1, 2026, subject to applicable relaxations.

There is no upper age limit for applying for UGC NET for Assistant Professor or PhD admission.
